So finally Apple released its eagerly awaited new iPhones on Sep 21st 2018. We present here a detailed Apple iPhone XS and XS Max Review. All of the new iPhones –  iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max went on sale at the Apple store globally. Here’s a detailed explanation of all you need to know about their features, price and specs. In fact both the phones are very similar except of course their screen size and the battery life.

iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max might be one of Apple’s best phones available now but the big question is that are there any significant changes considering that the design is quite similar to the one last year. First and foremost, it is important to note down that the new phone is pronounced as ’10-S’ and not ‘X-es” as many of us might think! Externally, it does look a lot similar to the iPhone X but obviously the big difference as Apple claims is the inside of it

Price

The prices of the iPhone are as follows:

iPhone XS is priced at $999 with a storage of 64 GB, 256 GB for $1149 and 512 GB for $1349.

iPhone XS Max is priced at $1099, 256 GB for $1249 and 512 GB for $1449

Availability

Both iPhone XS and XS Max started being shipped to those people who had pre-ordered their iPhone on the releasing date (Sep 21st). If you want to get your hands on a new iPhone and have already missed out on getting it pre-ordered you can still try your luck on the Apple’s websites or any of the legal resellers. iPhone XS and XS Max are available to order and iPhone XR can be pre-ordered from October 19th onwards.

Features

The body is made of the same surgical grade stainless steel but the screen has been announced to be the toughest ever available in any phone. Apple this time has bumped up the water resistance which is a great feature.

The good news is that it can survive in fresh water for those unexpected spills and has been even tested in juice, beer, wine and salt water which means you don’t have to worry in case it falls out of your pocket into the sea! Apple also claims that it can be submerged at a depth of 2 m up to 30 minutes. You can all the more enjoy playing games due to the large screens and wider stereo speakers.

Facial Recognition

Apple has claimed this iPhone to be the most secure phone for facial recognition which means that it offers a great deal of security for your biometric data. Basically face Id works on the principle of scattering your face with infra-red light and by using that you can unlock your phone and pay for various items while using your bank card. In fact Face ID is now much more quicker and more efficient.

Screen

The XS screen measures about 5.8 inch diagonal and the XS Max has a 6.5 inches screen. The XS max has ow one of the biggest screens on any phone. The screen of XS phone is definitely an upgrade but only a minor one from the previous one (iPhone X).

The colors appearing look much more natural in comparison to other competitors in the fray. Also, things have also improved in terms of the dynamic range regarding the display by 60%. Resolution remains the same though.

Performance

The iPhone XS as well as the XS are powered by the brand new and powerful A12 Bionic chip.The brand new and noteworthy feature of these three models have been their operating system which is A12 Bionic CPU, manufactured by Apple itself available in a 7nm processor.

This is one of the main reasons the device is faster compared to A11. The phone as per Apple contains Neural Engine, an octa-core chip which can process more than 5 trillion operations per second. As a result, Apps tend to launch much faster up to 30% speed wise.

Cameras

One of the features which has been enhanced are the camera themselves as the main sensor in the wide angle camera is much bigger and an additional feature known as Smart HDR has been included which is the highlight of the new features.

By using this feature the camera takes 9 photos simultaneously. The size of the pixels has been considerably increased and comes with an improved portrait mode too. Another wonderful feature added to the cameras is the Smart HDR.

The depth of the field can also been changed once you tap “Edit”. In fact, at the first look the dual rear cameras are still 12 megapixels and both have optical image stabilization for reducing shakiness. The image sensor also absorb light better than before. Also, auto focusing with the XS and XS Max is also faster – almost twice speed. Last but not the least there is a significant improvement in the quality of low light photography.

Battery Life

There is not a huge jump in the extension of battery life of these iPhones in comparison with the earlier model. There is a meager difference of one hour in the life of the battery between both of these iPhones. On an average, you can expect around 30 minutes more run life of the battery from iPhone XS compared to the iPhone X. On the other hand, the bigger model – XS Max battery will last around 90 minutes longer than iPhone X.
