WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging Apps has been constantly making efforts for bringing about updates for a better user experience. The App is working diligently to add more kind of features which will make the ever popular App more useful and interesting for the users. Here are some of the exciting and new upcoming features of WhatsApp and these are still in the beta version.

Each day literally brings in a new update on the ever popular chat App. It is working for making the new features available to both iOS and Android users. These are expected to roll out very soon globally for all WhatsApp users. Here is a lowdown of the most popular ones which users are looking forward to.

Replying Privately in a Group Chat

This is one of the most eagerly awaited features of WhatsApp, which is still in a beta version. By this feature, users will be able to reply to another person privately during group chats. This will enable to protect the privacy of individuals especially when their message is intended for a specific person within the group chat.

All you have to do is to select the dotted menu button which has three dots and then select ‘Reply privately’ option which will take you to the chat box of the person who will receive your message.

Vacation Mode

The Vacation mode is still under the development stage and is available in the Notification settings tab. This mode is based on the ‘silent mode’ which has been introduced in WhatsApp since some time back. A major advantage is this mode is that WhatsApp through this mode will archive the chats till the time you want them to be.

This mode is quite useful when you want to make your life easier by hiding chats on WhatsApp. This feature makes your archived chats completely gone from the list. In fact you will be able to view archived chats at the bottom of your chat list.

Silent Mode

The new version of the ‘Silent Mode in WhatsApp has already been rolled out. This feature helps in hiding the number of notifications on the App’s icon. It hides the WhatsApp badge in case of muted chats. This feature is already present by default so you don’t need to go to ‘Settings’ and enable it.

WhatsApp Linked Accounts

This one is not at present active and the company is still working on it. By this service you can link your WhatsApp account to external services. The company is also working on linking it with Instagram Accounts for its more than 1.5 billion users. The ultimate objective for this feature is related to WhatsApp Business App. Once it is rolled out, you should be able to see under the ‘Profile’ tab.

Dark Mode

WhatsApp is also working on rolling out a feature called ‘dark Mode’. Dark mode essentially uses black colour background combined with text which is highlighted in various colours.

The dark mode has already been used by other social media platforms such as Twitter and YouTube. The basic reason to introduce this feature was to help readers in low-light reading and when people read their messages on the screens in the dark, it becomes quite straining to the eyes.

Swipe to Reply feature

 

This awesome feature allows you to reply to a message in a much faster way compared to the present traditional way of replying to your messages. ‘Swipe to reply’ feature will enable user to be able to reply much faster to their sender by swapping on the message This feature has been available to iOS users but not on Android devices.

Hopefully it will be available on them pretty soon. The Facebook owned messaging platform has not yet announced formally the date they will be rolling out this feature, however it is expected to get introduced soon.

Admins & Group members

This feature was introduced quite recently by WhatsApp for its group chats by which it created a distinction between the group admins and the other group members while participating in the chats or conversations. This feature gave the Admin the ability to have a better control over to filter which members could participate in conversations. The feature is called “Restrict Group” settings and only the Admins can enable it.

This means that it will be the admins who will decide which members will simply observe and which members will participate in the conversation. The other change this new feature will bring is that only the Admin will be able to send message to the entire group.
